FSY Faculty

Session advisers and teachers are utilized at FSY Conferences in fulfilling their purpose. That purpose is: to strengthen faith in Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, feel an increased sense of joy and belonging, and be empowered to continue having spiritual experiences at home.

Session advisers lead morning devotionals, a Home Evening lesson, and other devotionals throughout the session. They serve as role models for the youth and strive to help all feel welcome at FSY. Session advisers are often accompanied by their spouses who assist in welcoming participants and making them feel safe and loved.

Teachers at FSY are responsible for teaching eight 45-minute lessons—four classes on Day Two and Day Three. They use teachings that are doctrinally sound, conducive to the Spirit, relevant, and engaging. Teachers impart true principles and doctrine found in the scriptures and the words of modern prophets. They also become role models for the youth, encouraging them to “take the message home” by writing down their thoughts and feelings in handbooks and committing to do something or share something they have learned at FSY with others.

Session Adviser and teacher opportunities are by assignment only and are typically filled by Seminaries and Institutes (S&I) employees. If you are not employed by S&I and are interested in the limited opportunities available, you may contact FSYFaculty@byu.edu.
